When Joseph Hopson founded his furniture store in 1861, he provided a furniture delivery service to the customer's home. Thus was born the removals service which operates today.
The important role that care has always taken in the removals business is, in part, reflected by the vehicles used. Camps have always been renowned for their removal fleet. Indeed, the livery on the 1937 vehicles would still be outstanding today.

Today, in fact, Camps have a fleet of 7 containerised removal vehicles, from 2,200 cu ft down to 650 cu ft. There are 18 fully qualified staff. The service operates out of two purpose built, modern containerised warehouses (with a total of over 700 storage containers) in Hambridge Lane, Newbury and Pipers Way, Thatcham.
Good packing looks simple but it is a skill which has to be learnt and practiced. All our staff are trained to the highest standards and are fully experienced in all aspects of packing, wrapping, packing and handling ..... a craft of which we are very proud.
Part of our standard moving service is to pack your possessions for you. Our trained staff can do this swiftly carefully and efficiently. And it makes your life just a little easier.
Every small item is wrapped and put into a cardboard carton. White paper is used for the majority, with cushion craft wrapping for more precious china and glass. Acid-free tissue paper is used to prevent tarnishing of metal objects such as silverware. Of course, if you wish to pack things yourself, we will willingly supply you with advice and loan you as many cardboard cartons as you require (wrapping materials are extra).
Right from the moment you call us we can start to help you.
First, one of our estimators will visit you to get the information that we need in order to give you an accurate, written quotation. They know by experience the very best ways to organise your move. They are happy to pass this experience on, so feel tree to ask them questions. With our quotation we will also supply you with an excellent checklist to help ensure that nothing gets forgotten.
On moving day we take the strain - you have enough to do.
On moving day everything is well organised. Every item of furniture is protected to avoid damage or marking. Every care is taken to avoid damage to carpets, banisters and walls, both moving out and moving in. In addition to the cardboard cartons for small items, specially constructed crates can he made up for specific needs such as chandeliers, heavily gilded mirrors or picture framers. (Incidentally, we can also plug in your deep freeze overnight, if necessary). All our staff are full time and have skill levels accredited by the BAR (British Association of Removers).
Camp Hopson Removals have over seventy years experience in moving. Why not benefit from it?
Camp Hopson is a family-run company formed over seventy-five years ago. Our staff are well trained, highly experienced, helpful and concerned about the standards they maintain. We are members of BAR, the British Association of Removers. We always work to the quality criteria they lay down as well as maintaining the highest standards of care for your property that we pack and carry. We may not provide the cheapest quotation you get. With our standards we wouldn't expect that. What we do provide is a service of the highest quality and the most excellent value - and we care for the possessions that you care for.
